Contemplative attention is a bio-analytical description of a meditative frame of mind that is not severed from everyday activity, but is an ongoing thoughtful observation of how our body, mind and feelings coordinate to form a sense of self.
Contemplative attention is can be learned as a form of mindful self-observation that happens spontaneously and with little effort. It does not need withdrawal from our active environment and normal daily functioning, and is a useful tool when we need to consciously adjust our adaptation to the outer world with the help of mediated feedback.
