Mythological feedback cycles refer to the organisation cycles which order the symbolic interpretations we make of the inner and outer unknown aspects of our life.
There are certain consistent patterns in the way we deal with the unknown. We create symbolic elaborations and amplifications of the typical tendencies in our system’s organisation which we cannot justify in terms of our rational, emotional or instinctual experience. Medical astrology and the Indian chakra system are good examples where similar symbolic models are used to explain the general or universal levels of feedback organisation. On a personal level we often find that dream images combine our individual experiences with such archetypal or mythological themes. For example, the appearance of a black dog with red eyes could be a warning sign that our everyday emotional feedback cycles are out of control or that suppressed emotions can lead to impersonal and irrational organisation processes which do not allow for conscious amplification of the emotional processes via the frontal lobes of the brain.
